Bob Agen loved life and was a man of great character, faith, kindness and humility with the ability to engage any and all in conversation and an eagerness to always help. He was born and raised in Elmira, NY, graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1956. He worked for 45 years at Hardinge Inc., eventually becoming Chairman & CEO for 18 years. He also served on the Boards for Chemung Financial Corporation, Swift Glass and Elmira College. He was a long-time parishioner of the Elmira Catholic Parish, loved watching the New York Yankees nightly with his dog Molly and spending summers at Keuka Lake. Above all, he adored his family.
He passed away on August 28th 2021.
Some of the Great things that Bob did was:
- Provided 2 Students from the Elmira area a Full 4 Year Scholarship to Notre Dame High School, When other wise would not be able to afford the tuition and costs associated with the education
- Provided countless donations to Cancer Treatment and was a Board Member and Spokesman for the Falk Cancer Center, Located in Elmira NY at the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital
- Was one of the leading organizer's of the "Pal" Program in the Southern Tier. (Program where an Older Student from High School would donate some time to spend with a less fortunate student in Elementary School – Act as a Big Brother or Sister for to them)
